Kathleen Lynn Memorial Walk a fitting way to remember remarkable woman and support Cycle Against Suicide
Today is World Suicide Prevention Day . As good time as any to remind people of the Kathleen Lynn Memorial Walk taking place this Saturday 12th September , with all funds raised through sponsorship or donations benefiting the Cycle Against Suicide group.
Free transport is available , courtesy of Dublin Bus , leaving from the Sean O’Casey Community Centre , St Marys Road East Wall at 11am . All welcome to come along.(Kathleen Lynn died on 14th September 1955 . sixty years ago and walk takes place at her beloved Glenmalure in Co.Wicklow).
Youth who played leading role in early days of Fianna Eireann remembered at Glasnevin Cemetery, Dublin
Las Fallon, author of Dublin Fire Brigade and the Irish Revolution unveils gravestone for Patsy O’Connor, the Fianna officer who participated in the Dublin Lockout and Howth gun running. O’Connor also edited the movement’s newspaper until his premature death aged 18 in 1915. Jason Walsh-McLean, who located the unmarked grave and recovered Patsy O’Connor’s story is figure in blue shirt behind grave stone. August 29th, 2015
Call for descendants of Irish Citizen Army members with memories and memorabilia
The 1913 Committee is working with SIPTU’s Dublin District Committee to erect plaques to commemorate the Irish Citizen Army in locations around Dublin where sections of the ICA existed in 1916. We would be glad to hear from anyone with information on the ICA, particularly descendants who may have memories or memorabilia.

A Truly Radical Woman
The Sarah Lundberg Summer School 2015:
“Kathleen Lynn, a truly radical woman”
Many aspects of Lynn’s life, activities and legacy will be explored in an open and participative forum. A number of prominent historians and activists, along with some newer voices will be giving presentations, with plenty of opportunity for attendees to comment, question and debate.
Timetable:
10am to 11am: Registration, and teas/coffees etc.
11am (sharp): Morning session featuring Mary McAuliffe, Mícheál Mac Donncha, and Anne Mac Lellan. (Session will finish with a short presentation by the 5th class children from St Josephs Co-ed School who were asked to find out more about Kathleen Lynn).
1pm – 2pm: Lunch (soups, sandwiches, teas/coffees)
2pm – 4pm: Afternoon session featuring Hugo McGuinness, Carmel Darcy and Ann Matthews.
4pm: Closing address: Moira Murphy
There will be also be a small photo display in memory of Sarah and a selection of Dockland photographs by John Moran, who also passed away last year).

The Sarah Lundberg Summer School is hosted by the East Wall History Group, in conjunction with the Alternative Visions Oral History Group, to honour the memory of our friend and colleague who tragically passed away in July of 2014.
